What are you going to do?

We work in teams to meet our milestones. These are examples of the teams that we have: the Flight Algorithms Team, the Electronics Team, the Aircraft Design Team, the Software Team, the Flight Operations Team, etc. You will be joining the AP-3 Airborne Wind Energy System (AWES) Test Engineering Team, a group of 4 experienced test engineers. AP-3 is our pre-commercial prototype aircraft, a 12-meter wingspan 150 kW demonstrator of our safety architecture and fully automated operations. You will work closely with the team lead to develop test plans, test setups, and execute test activities.

As a member of the Test Engineering Team, you will be working on:

  • System verification activities, including test planning, test case development, test execution and test data processing
  • Execution of flight system, navigation, and controls test activities using Software- and Hardware-In-The-Loop test setups
  • Troubleshooting of system anomalies through various means such as flight data analysis
  • Definition of requirements for test setups and management of test setup design and assemble
  • Coordination with engineering teams and the Flight Operations Team to ensure UAV and GCS systems satisfy requirements
  • Execution of ground and flight test activities with travel to Ampyx Power test facilities

What do we need from you to complement the team?

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in aeronautical engineering or a related technical discipline with more than 5 years of experience in aerospace systems testing.

Ideally you:

are a team player;

  • are proactive and you take ownership;
  • like to learn new skills;
  • adhere to processes and help improve them;
  • report in a precise and concise manner;
  • are good at writing technical documentation;
  • are proficient in English (both spoken and written).

We would also like you to have knowledge of:

  • UAV systems, including avionics, controllers, radio systems, and ground control stations;
  • verification processes;
  • UAV flight testing and operations;
  • flight algorithms, software and coding at a basic level.

Though not a must-have, we would very much welcome the following experience as well:

  • flight operations as a test director or test pilot;
  • MATLAB/Simulink.
